For this inaugeral post, there’s no one better to kick it off with than Settlement Coordinator Lori Nason.
Paramount Settlement Planning: How long have you been working in structured settlements and settlement planning?
Lori Nason: I’ve been in the industry for 19 years.
PSP: Let’s talk about your job specifically. What led you to specialize in structured settlements?
LN: I was recommended for the position by a friend after losing my previous job to downsizing.
PSP: After close to two decades, what do you find most rewarding about helping clients navigate settlements?
LN: Knowing they have some financial security when structuring.
PSP: What’s one case or client success story that stands out to you? (Without violating confidentiality, of course!)
LN: Knowing a mother and her children have financial security for life after a drunk driver struck her vehicle, killing her mother and husband, and severely injuring her (their children were not in the vehicle).
PSP: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to attorneys or settlement planners about structured settlements?
LN: Structured settlements are a great tax-exempt benefit, only available to personal injury claimants, that can be utilized to provide them with some financial stability.
PSP: What industry trend do you think will shape the future of settlements and lien resolution?
LN: Artificial Intelligence (AI).
PSP: Shifting gears, if you weren’t in this field, what career would you have pursued?
LN: I would probably look at owning a restaurant or bed and breakfast.
PSP: Let’s talk spare time. How do you unwind outside of work?
LN: I enjoy spending time with my grandchildren, hiking, quilting and traveling when possible.
